What Is A Channel?

A channel in Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) refers to a specific frequency band used for communication within the DMR system.  DMR operates on a 12.5 kHz channel spacing, allowing for two independent voice channels within the same channel space through Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology.  This means that each channel can support two simultaneous conversations, effectively doubling the channel capacity.  DMR is designed to be a cost-effective and interoperable alternative to traditional analog radio systems, making it suitable for various applications, including amateur radio, public safety, and commercial use.
