- DMR tips. Like what Steve KC8WXM mentioned to better (and faster) utilize DMR features.
- Adding or changing DMR channels via keypad programming.
- Go back over how to update your DMR contacts via RadioID.net.
- Asking check-ins what they know now that they didn’t know when they started with DMR that would be helpful to other beginners (Elmering)
- A timeline to get started of essential things to do with DMR and why.
- Which DMR radio do you use the most & why?
- Proper DMR practices & procedures to use on-air
- DMR text messaging
- Advanced features of the Anytone 878 handheld and 578 mobile radio
- Going over the different DMR networks (Brandmeister, TGIF, DMR+, YSF, etc)
- Useful radio accessories to use with your DMR equipment
- Unique names used instead of the amateur radio alpha codes
- Antennas for handheld, mobile, and home radios
- Logging software
- QSL cards Do you send them out?
- The magnetic mount for this antenna features a strong magnetic base that secures the antenna at highway speeds up to 100 MPH.
- When mounted on the trunk, near the back window it is good up to about 65MPH before it blows over. The magnet is just too small to withstand…
- The Flexi-whip is a good choice for a magnet–mount antenna because it is much less likely to get ripped from the vehicle if it hits garage-doors, low-clearance
- The above calculations reveal mag mount antennas do, indeed, provide a very robust AC coupling of the RF shield currents to the metal of the car…
- I’ve passed many trucks now at high speeds and it hasn’t budged yet, so I strongly suggest that folks “upgrade” to a stronger magnet mount,
- The Wilson line of mag mount antennas absolutely will not move or come off while driving, they are designed to withstand speeds of over 100 Mph.
- It will be fine at speed, I ran a Wilson 5000 for a while. You will notice that it starts to scratch your roof and if you run the cable through.
- WARNING: These are not suitable for vehicles traveling in excess of 110 mph. We recommend the fixed antenna be used for very high speed vehicles.
- I’ve used other magnetic mounts in the past and most will come off at normal speed. I’m using this magnetic mount with DXE-WP-102 stainless antenna(8.5 feet
- The magnet is rated to approx 75MPH driving speed but depends on many factors; Always check that the antenna is tightened to the magnet base to avoid the
- The BCA-300 is a durable dual-band antenna. With its flexible design and strong magnetic mount, it will stay on your car even at high speeds.
- I have now owned this magnetic mount antenna for about 1 year. I probably leave it attached to my vehicle about 1/4 of the time. At highway speeds, to 80 mph, it does not move! It has been very durable. Of course, the coax cables on the antenna and transceiver are smaller, and require care in screwing them off and on. But the smaller antenna and connectors make routing the wire thru the vehicle a snap!
- I can’t quote any statistics, but it has happened to me twice in the past – tall HF antenna combined with too small magnet mount and high speed.
- High speed and wind is really not a good mix for this product. If it had a spring at the mount like a CB antenna and some others do, it would probably be just
- And since I felt it needed to be cleaned out from sitting so long I punched the pedel to the floor and at 150MPH+ the Wilson 1000 Mag Mount was still Firmly attached on the roof and never moved the slightest bit.
